Getting this error on startup

Hi, It’s just got one last (I think) problem with an error message that appears on startup (and reboots). If I click on ‘Ignore’ then the machine finishes booting fine with no apparent ill effects. I can even browse the internet (slowly). The machine is a Kinetic RiscPC running RO4.39. I know its old and obsolete but she’d like to have it working as it used to if possible. |

That sounds like the network configuration may have the “act as IP router” set. In “Configuration” click Internet Of course if you’re not going to use it networked you could also kill of the rest of the network setup (unticking the “Enable TCP/IP Protocol Suite”) but you may not want an isolated machine. |

Hmmm, I had a look in there and the option was not ticked! |

I think that’s symptomatic of the GUI change affecting more than one part of the configuration files and you initially had a mix of enabled and disabled (with the disabled part being what the GUI saw)1 It was probably a manually edited file or a file over-write done by an upgrade (or similar process). The networking config is a bit quirky. Glad to help. 1 I’ve seen the same thing on network devices where a change in the CLI put things out of sync with the GUI |
