USB Audio OS inclusions

For some time now I’ve been using an ARMX6 with the version of RO provided via Rcomp. This includes the ability to play out and capture audio via USB. I’m planning to write some more about RO Audio. However I realised that I don’t know if the same inclusion is now in the other current RO versions. Or if their users need to find and load the modules built by Colin Granville and Dave Higton to be able to do this. Can people please let me know so I can cover this accurately? Ta. :-) |

Had you seen the announcement for the ROUGOL Zoom meeting “Audio Matters”, presented by Jason Tribbeck? |

Yes, I’ve been told about the ‘zoom meeting’. Unfortunately I do have some problems that make being directly involved difficult. It, and the continuation of ‘Archive’ prompted me to think of writing about this for the magazine, and made be go back over my old files on the topic. In a limited sense this is ‘sorted’ for the ARMX6 that RComp sell. But I think there is currently a lack of data about this so far as most people are concerned. And I’m not the person who knows what is involved in putting the needed code into the OS. Long story, which I may detail in the magazine. Short version: I think it would be more sensible if Colin Grenville and perhaps Dave Higton could be in the meeting or provide info as they have generated modules that enable USB audio, and some of this is now in the ARMX6 code. I can, and have written some programmes that will play/record/check the USB Audio setup and tell you what your audio devices can play. So that’s what I want to write about. But obviously also need to let people know if their machine/OS will do this ‘as is’ or they need to find and load the modules Colin or Dave generated. I’d also be happy to talk to Jason via emails if that would help at all, and all my demos/tests code I’m happy to provide for anyone interested. Although I am a lousy programmer, they do example how it can be done. |
