I need a pair of speakers (not USB type) to be used with various computers including laptops and desktops. Any recommendations? |

Sorry if my comment came out as giving David hard time… not my intention. It’s just hard to recommend something without knowing what is it for. I added the ultra generic option at the top of my examples and in such a case the answer is: Everything will work as long as it has the right plug for all your various computers (otherwise you’ll need also the right adapters) |

I hope it didn’t – I didn’t take it that way at all, it seemed a perfectly sensible post. I’m sorry if my joke post worried you! I really should confine such jokery to Aldershot, but sometimes I just can’t resist 8~( |

Hey no worries Sir! All good, just had a doubt I did something wrong lol you never know! :D |

Conferencing would be one use. Listening to music occasionally would be another. |

In my experience, for home/soho use, they definitely are good. I had an old set 2.1 and they lasted for ever and with a very decent sound and good bass (which is you use an Archimedes or a RiscPC audio is a nice to have feature because the audio chip there has nice round sounds, much better than an Amiga for example for me). I also gave these old Logitech speakers to a cafe of friends of mine and they used them for even longer and without any issue, connected to their laptop. I have never used Genius brand, so cannot comment on that one, sorry. |

Small size:
And if you have more room, you can try small speakers, with a Class D amp. |

Yes, the Logitech Z200 speakers is one I am considering the other being the Logitech Z207. The latter costs about a third more than the former, but I can’t see why. The Z207 can be controlled by bluetooth signals whereas the Z200 can’t; but the Z200 has bass control whereas the Z207 doesn’t. On the Logitech website the Z200 costs GBP33 compared to GBP45 for the Z207. |

So buy the Z200. Believe me: they are pretty good, even if far away from the Yamaha NX-50. |

There are similar inexplicable, as far as I can see, differences on keyboard/keyboard mouse pricing. |

Before buying a particular set of Logitech speakers it might be worth visiting their forums… I have a set of logitech speakers that produces excellent audio. Annoyingly after a period of time they started to emit a low hum, audio was still good and I did go on to purchase a later model. (2.1→5.1 surround with a bass speaker) |

I’ve got a pair of mains-powered Logitech Z-10 speakers with amp here on my desk (probably an obsolete model now) that still sound good after around 15 years of daily use. They have audio and USB inputs and a display on the front of one for settings that also can give track details when using the USB connection – from a PC – and touch controls. |

Thanks everyone for advice. I have ordered the Logitech Z200 speakers which, judging by above comments, is the safe option. |
