Hi everyone, I’m charging with the supplied mains adaptor, not USB. Any thoughts on how to fix? Thanks Garry |

Have you tried contacting Andrew at R-Comp yet? |

I had the same issue with mine once the battery ran down all the way. Essentially you remove the back cover, plug the laptop in, let the machine boot, then shut it down. Then leave the laptop plugged in so it fully charges. There is also a thread on the Pine64 site regarding this, here – https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4632 |

Thanks both, it’s charging now. It seemed to sit on 0% charge for a few hours, and then slowly start creeping up, after about a day, it’s on 100% now. Cheers Garry |

What does this do? Could it work with a Toshiba laptop? |

The real question is – what does 100% mean? I have a (rarely used) mobile phone which can be brought back to life with a similar technique and 100% then means means a good charge which will last a week or more (very infrequent use). I have an old Toshiba laptop for which 100% means minutes or less. |

100% means that the charger or some widget in the battery thinks it is fully charged. Usually some calculation based upon voltage and current. My big mower has a battery that charges up to “full”. It’s only capable of turning the starter for about 40 seconds. |

Oh, and I’ve noticed with lithium cells, letting them run completely down does tend to upset things. It’s possible that other operating systems might have forced a shutdown before the battery state reached critical… |

It would a bit of a bummer if that happens to a Battery Car!! |
