Creating a home page for Iris

Hi folks, Over the last couple of months we’ve had a few people asking if there’s any way they can help with projects like the new web browser and so on. A lot of the work is quite specialised and can’t be easily divvied up, but today I thought of something that would be a helpful community project. Iris currently defaults to a blank, white, homepage. It is terribly boring! What would be nice is a more attractive page, perhaps along the lines of Netsurf’s home page. It could, however, include HTML 5 / JS elements if you wish. Obviously I don’t want to rip of NetSurf’s page, but there are elements which merit possible inclusion – search box (google?), links to popular/risc os sites etc. It probably shouldn’t be too elaborate (no MSN-style graphic-heavy newsfeeds!) as it’ll appear each time the window opens (by default). Ideally it’ll be disc-based so that the window can open correctly without a network connection present (eg. if you’re viewing local content). Thoughts welcomed :) |

You might joke, but I’ve seen some pretty crazy **** that runs in a browser. If you’re not running RISC OS and you have a keyboard… Have fun! |
