see hidden files on Samba share
|
When I view a shared linux directory in a RISC OS file view window it does not show the files that start with a dot. The Shared directory is on a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian and is sharing with Samba server. RISC OS is using LanMan to view the directory. |

You need to ensure hide dot files = no in smb.conf |

Thanks for the pointer Stuart, Nov 04, 2020 by Colin Granville Admin: Tested on ArmX6 with Samba on Armbian |

Colin’s update does work here, locally built, but it has not made it as a release yet. LanMan98 can also see hidden files, there is a line to uncomment in its !Run. |

LanMan98 2.06 is now on free issue on the PlingStore. |

That’s true – if you read what John said he can do ls -a, the issue is that looking from the RO end the SAMBA share isn’t being read correctly by LANManFS because the version currently built doesn’t have the fix Colin did to make it respect the status of the share done by the switch in smb.conf. Two solutions:

I’ve recently installed LanMan98 because I couldn’t get Omni to connect a drive using script commands. Omni: Click on Iconbar icon. Wait… Click on the drive needed. Wait… click on the iconbar icon. Wait… LanMan98. click on Iconbar icon. No wait. click on Drive, no wait. Click on iconbar icon, no wait. In addition, with Omni, the application is called Omni, the iconbar icon is labelled Net, and the drive identifies as LanmanFS LanMan98 is consistent. Oh, yes, shut dowm the remote computer while a drive is connected. Then shutdown RISC OS, and it takes around a minute to timeout the LanmanFS filer. Lanman98 shuts down cleanly immediately. |

Omni is just a frontend to the various network filers it supports.
Instant here. Maybe you have some old config in Choices or ’DNS ’issues. You can mount a share without having Omni running. Then do
Most RISC OS network file systems appear to freeze the machine on shutdown if the connection has disappeared. |
