Screen resolution

I have here a small portable HDMI monitor which is 1920×1080 – however with this RISC OS is quite small. Therefore I would prefer 1366×768 – but this is not offered in the RISC OS screen configuration. The closest offered is 1280×720 – but this is not well emulated by the monitor. I checked with a Windows laptop, and the monitor supports nice emulated 1366×768 Is there a way to add 1366×768 to the RISC OS screen configuration? I thought this is auto-created through EDID, so why is 1366×768 not listed? |

Although this topic is somewhat different, I think some of the answers may help:- |

i once found info on web and typed a line in some pre configure that changed the resolution. also there is documentaton on the ™raspberry™ pi hdmi settings put in somewhere close to config.txt. i think what you see in bottom corner is just a few common settings they all compiled not every possibility. and earlier number version might have different. |

One of these added to whatever MDF file you are using may help. They’re 1360 (rather than 1366), but you can possibly tweak it with MakeModes if need be

Not sure why, but the 1. characters above are supposed to be hashes. I typed it that way, but once its published it seems to change to 1. |

Textile treats ‘#’ symbols like that as meaning “numbered list entry” (and ‘*’ for bulleted list). As there are gaps, the numbered lists begin at ‘1’ each time. Wrap your MDF information in pre tags (leaving a blank line above and below the pre block) and then it should show correctly. |

I’ve always thought it was the fact that on a UK keyboard shift-3 is £ (pound sterling as opposed to lb. pound imperial) and on a US keyboard shift-3 is # that gave the opportunity for confusion in the USA. That and a conversation or two where neither end could see the other key layout. On topic – do flat panel displays actually take any notice of the refresh rate? |

Is it possible to create an MDF from a monitor’s EDID? I’ve got a couple of PI’s that I’d like to run headless and occasionally administer via VNC, which means I need some realistic kind of MDF to tell them to use. It occurs to me to create the MDF from the monitor I normally use, to which it’s connected (via an HDMI switcher) at the moment, but won’t be later on. Apologies if my Googling has failed to find a well known method. |

SaveModeFile should have been obvious, I suppose. Thanks! |
