Did you wait long enough for it to timeout or did you just get sick of waiting or come to the conclusion it wasn’t going to timeout? |

Partly because Windows defaults to a hidden share on the root with Administrator only permissions. Enterprise admins are used to being able to look at any disc out there. I’m rather interested in the translation logging Colin is doing using Reporter. |

From earlier in this discussion it seems that the connection got further using dotted notation than the name. This and the above means that the name resolution problem must be sorted out before it can get any further. |

Waited about 5 minutes then longer on a second attempt. In the case where I got the Connection down message that came back after about 2-3 minutes. As others have said it would be good to have this level of logging available as standard as Networking is always one that generates a lot of discussion and it would also help when we get to the stage of the bounty being worked on to have some information on what issues are being seen and also as part of the beta testing that us users could assist with. I’ll keep your debug module for now just in case I have any issues in the future…now thats tempting fate as they say :-) |

Update: Had a play with engineering various issues like incorrrect /not on PC, wrong password/user details etc and the reporting is seen so thats a great help and I’m sure it will help find the issues on Jasmine’s set up. Great work Colin and of course Martin for Reporter. |

Update: Not had chace / inclination to mess around more with the SMB share, but did get !cloudFS up and working no problems with PCloud, so have a good share file solution through that with no fuss. Thanks to Elesar on that one – it’s a great product and couldn’t fault their support on getting out an update when PCloud had changed something :) Prob won’t waste more time at the moment getting the SMB up and running, but yep, it does scream to me that we really need some modern protocols in place for simpler sharing on a local network. |
