ColourPicker: change model only

I have a question regarding the ColourPicker: Is there a way to only change the model, e.g. from RGB to CMYK without changing the current colour? From looking at the documentation on the use of the UpdateDialog SWI it seems that you need to provide model & settings. But maybe I don’t fully understand it?
