Hi, With reference to http://home.arcor.de/raik_fischer/snv15890_gr.htm – what sort of display is that, and how is it interfaced to the Beagle? Oh, and is that Meccano I see holding it together? ;) |

I will try to give the information. This is not easy for me. In German on www.arcsite.de it is easier. But I’m glad that people are interested in my tinkering;-) |

Chipsee seems to be here now: http://www.chipsee.com/best-product/beagleboard-xm-exp-v2.html ( /best-product instead of /product/board/arm ). Hehe, it was at your link yesterday, I looked it up on my phone! I had a brief panic moment when I saw the price (¥1,280.00), but then I remembered it would be Chinese Yuan (about €155) and not Japanese Yen (about €12!). Oh well. ;-) To be honest, I think the Chalk is a better deal – http://www.chalk-elec.com/?page_id=1280#!/~/product/category=3094846&id=7703686 – at $134 (about €100) so long as you don’t get stung badly for postage. It is simpler than the Chipsee (no buttons, sensors, etc) but you get a bigger higher resolution display. I like, I think I’ll try to put some cash aside for that. Is it easy to fit? Just plug in the bits and give an MDF to RISC OS? I’m not bothered about touch for now, it’d be nice to play with but the RISC OS API doesn’t really ‘do’ touch devices. ;-) The only thing I don’t understand is why the 7" and 10" are the same price. FWIW, there’s the Pi version: http://www.chalk-elec.com/?page_id=1280#!/~/product/category=3094861&id=14647624 |

Both are easy to use. Chipsee has a adapter board with the xM size and use the LCD-port and the other. It is plug ans pray ;-) It has a very small range of working parameters. It is only working in the desktop if the MDF is activ. The Chalk has a small adapter board only for the LCD-port and use USB for the touchscreen. I have MDF for both. I can send. No problem. Touchscreen: Sure? Look . Chalk has a HID-Device. Thomas has begun to adapt its drivers for HID devices but at the moment he does not have time for it. |
