Maximum work area height

Is there an official maximum size to a Wimp window’s work area? I’m making some that are very tall, and things start to go weird (scroll bar won’t go all the way to the bottom of the window, but does let you scroll the entire extent) at around y_0 = -16000000 os units (y_1 = 0).

I want to know at what height I should say ‘no can do’.

I think I’ve seen this myself in Fireworkz with very very long documents.

There’s little you can do apart from trying to set the correct extent and hope that the Window Manager gets fixed.

I already reported this problem a few years ago after noticing the problem while checking the content of large log files with various text editors.

I remember from many years ago (back in the days of the A3000, before the Risc PC!) finding that I couldn’t use anywhere near the full range of the integers that control windows.
