Cluster chain is not consistent

Hello all, I’m not sure if I should worry about this or not, but here goes… I was searching for something in my !Boot directory earlier, when an error popped up saying that my cluster chain was inconsistent. Further investigation shows this is caused by a bunch of directories in $.!Boot.Loader.Backup1 with names such as (235935//180 and timestamps in 2038. They don’t seem to be affecting the operation of RISC OS. But it’s a pain every time I want to search through !Boot as I have to skip 22 of these error messages. I can’t open the directories to see what’s in there, and I can’t copy them elsewhere to a shared drive to have a look from another machine. RISC OS 5.19 (01-Nov-12) running on an R-Pi if that helps at all. Ta, |

That is, if I remember correctly, the DOS format part of the SD card. You may be able to fix it with chkdsk on Windows machine, but given that the DOS and FileCore partitions overlap, it is just as likely to mess it up (you may get better results with Linux, I don’t have much faith in Windows to deal with FAT devices…and stay away from the GUI ScanDisk, it fall’s to notice many errors). Take a backup of the RISC OS part first, okay?… |
