Possible to change SD cards on a pi?

On Pi, it is possible to swap to a different SD card after boot? There are a number of guides saying you can, but I can’t make it work. After dismounting the boot card and putting in another one, I always get “Disc error 08 at :0/00000000” Actually, I get that error message even if I dismount, don’t change the card, and then click the SD icon with the same card in, which doesn’t seem right. |

Some additional data: If I swap the SD card and then attempt to format a new card with HForm (running from a RAM disk), HForm reads the card details OK but then fails to initialize it at the end with “Disc error 08 at :0/00000C00”. |

I’m not convinced by the boot sequence thing, there are a whole bunch of discussions around the web about pulling out the card after booting – not least by the instructions for the “NutPi” software that’s sold here. I still don’t know what the problem is, but I worked around it by plugging in a USB card reader for a second card slot. I didn’t expect this to be supported, but it is! |

Even the boot card should be removable; it’ll ask you to reinsert it if/when it needs it again. I have no idea why you’re getting that error :( |

Hum, did you dismount the card before inserting the new one? |
