WebJames on Pi4

Does anyone have WebJames running on a Pi 4? I have the RunImage from Chris Gransden’s build of April 2013 which was built with php 5.2.17 to run on armv7 but it doesn’t seem to run on the Pi4. Has there been anything newer compiled? Thanks for any help. |

I think it works if you use PatchSWP which might be in the Utilities folder. I can’t find the download link – it looks like it’s been removed from the author’s website. Not at a RISC OS machine right now to check. |

Andy from Riscosbits sorted this out for me a couple of months ago. I am an idiot with riscos so I needed exact instructions. Here they are: Download the version from PackMan and apply the ARMv7 patch. DON’T run it, because, as you say, it will freeze your machine! Now, in Utilities, you will find two programmes called PatchSWP and Patch. Run PatchSWP and drag the 10MB !RunImage from !WebJames to the window. Tell it to apply both fixes (SWP and zero fix). You have to type something in the purpose box and press Enter. After it has whirred, click Save Patchfile (the location should be completed already). Now run !Patch. Drag your copy of WebJames (with the 10MB !RunImage) to the Patch icon on the iconbar. Select it and tick to “apply” and then click menu over the Patch Window and click on Patch Selected. Now you should just be able to run AT least I can here! If you can’t do it because my instructions are flaky, let me know and I’ll send you a patched version. It’s worth checking the CPU settings in Configure (double click on !Boot) – i have mine set to “strict”. Hope that helps, Andy This all works on my machine anyway. Andy has not flaked yet. Hope this helps. |

Strange. I did not have to do anything special. I just copied WebJames from a Pi 3 and it just worked. |
