Iyonix and Pioneer DVD-RW drive

Hi all, I have recently purchased a Iyonix PC (it has a revision 1 board with the engineering updates/fixes applied) and I’m in the process of maxing it out, so far I’ve updated it to RISC OS 5.28 and fitted a 1GB RAM module. I’m wanting to replace the CD Drive with a DVD drive and I have sourced a Pioneer DVR-111D. When I fit it and set it to IDE slave (it shares the same cable as the hard drive – an SSD upgrade is next!), whenever I try to access a disc (that I know works) it always comes up with a CDFS error message “Bad Parameters”. I have tried varying the buffers setting in Configuration but to no avail. The Iyonix is capable of playing (and selecting tracks) when an audio CD is inserted. Does anyone know if the drive is outright incompatible, or is there any extra configuration options I can try? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Dan |

It’s been a while, but I’m seem to recall my Iyonix not liking Pioneer Drives back in the day. I think I had something like a Lite-on SOHW 1673S or similar |

Thanks for the heads up I’ll have a look.

I had a lot of headaches with (newer) Pioneer drives with CDVDBurn 3 on many platforms – IYONIX and Titanium via IDE/S-ATA as well as via USB adapters on Pi and ARMX6. I think the incompatibility goes far deeper than the CDFS driver, so it would need a lot of debugging to get to the bottom of that problem. An old Pioneer drive (109 I think) worked fine on the IYONIX, but I think I only tested with CDVDBurn 3 and not with CDFS. Use ASUS or Lite-On or LG (with later RISC OS versions) drives instead. |

Another vote for Lite-On drives. I had one in my Iyonix, and I don’t recall any problems. |

Thanks for all the advice. I sourced a Lite-On SOHW 1673S and it works a treat :-) |
