It is possible that any strange tricks used by ArtWorks 1.7f in 26 bit are (i) no longer being presented to Aemulor and (ii) were simpler to deal with in the X-scale processor on the Iyonix where Aemulor cut its teeth as that had fewer quirks than modern ARM processors. |

Yes, but… what version of Pi are you using? If it’s a Pi 4, remember that just because something worked OK on ARMv5 (Iyonix) and ARMv7 (Pandaboard), it doesn’t mean that it will work on ARMv8 (Pi 4). It might do, but bear in mind that according to Martin, 2.X3.01 from December 2021 (ie. last month) was the “first release [of ArtWorks] that is fully ARMv8 compatible”. |

It’s a Pi 1, so ARMv6. I didn’t turn up any reports of people using ArtWorks 1.7f on a Pi, so it’s possible that it doesn’t like the hardware. Testing on RO 5.28 on RPCEmu should give an indication one way or the other. |

OK so just checked and my old copy of ArtWorks 1.7f works on a RaspberryPi4 RISCOS 5.29, Iyonix RISCOS 5.28 and 5.29 and also on my ARMX6 RISCOS 5.29. All work ok What does not work are AWSwitch , which changes the Anti-aliasing levels and also FlipTop. So have you got the latest Aemulor, v 2.53? I am just wondering if you are falling foul of the module limit issue in 5.28 that caused a system crash when you went over a certain number of modules being active. I can’t find the exact details on these forums where it was uncovered but try updating to the latest 5.29 ROM and disc image and see if you still have the same issue. |

Further update in that I have installed a fresh copy of 5.28 on to a SDCard and set that up on an old Pi 1B 512 Mb that I have. I have installed the System and Font updates that come with the free Style 2019 and installed Aemulor 2.53 in 28Mb compatability mode rather than in the mode you can use more memory. I have tested my version of Artworks 1.7f on that and it works as expected with the standard Aemulor settings. Hope that helps. |

Doug – many thanks for this. I had a look through Aemulor’s settings and for some reason ArtWorks wasn’t being picked up as a 26 bit app. After adding it to the list of applications manually ArtWorks now runs nicely. Hugely pleased to have finally got these bits of software into service – I don’t think I ever had them running on my Risc PC! |
