Email API?

Is there a way to send emails from a RISC OS application, preferably one written in BASIC? I thought I’d done this several years ago, but if I did, I’ve lost the program.

I’m wondering whether there is an API for Messenger Pro, or whether something like sendmail has been ported.

(Hmm… I wonder whether I used something from Webjames?)

There’s also hmail (on Packman), but I had to recompile it (comes with source) to get it to work on later Pi boards. I reached out to the author about uploading a new package but didn’t get a reply.

I’m not sure if Alex is still active, but hmail (assuming it’s the same one) is also available from his website and the source is on GitHub under a copyleft licence – so rebuilding and distribution is always an option if all else fails¹.

¹ Which is why I keep banging on about folk ensuring that their source code is clearly licenced whilst they’re still active and interested in RISC OS, to ensure that it isn’t lost to the community when they’re not. :-)
