Outlook email via Hermes

Does anyone know how to get email that is sent to an outlook email address onto RISC OS preferably via !Hermes into !Messenger? I have recently registered an outlook email address on a Windows laptop. The address is of the form: myname@outlook.com Emails sent to this address can be read by the mail client on Windows, but I would like to get them on RISC OS in the way GMail comes in. |

Presumably you’re looking for the POP details to fetch the emails from your outlook.com mailbox? This might help. |

In addition to what Andrew has posted make sure your outlook.com account online is set to use POP3 as I seem to remember it being disbaled by default. Then also for RISCOS in Hermes emailbox accounts for your outlook.com account make sure that in security is set to: Authenticated login(APOP) In the Account tab: In Hermes account setting for the outgoing SMTP server security tab: Enable Secure connection In the Account tab: I have several outlook email addresses all being successfully downloaded with Hermes/Messenger so it can be done. |

John, I think you misunderstand things. You login via your browser to the outlook.com email account you have and then go in to settings to allow POP3 as well as IMAP. This then means you keep the existing email account using IMAP on your PC and then set up Messenger/Hermes to use POP3 on RISCOS. This is exactly how I have things set up here. |

I think you misunderstand things. You are right. I have now gone into settings on the browser outlook.com account and tried to “allow POP3 as well as IMAP”. Perhaps we can find some time tomorrow at the MUG Zoom meeting to investigate. (The new email is associated with an additional zoom account to help administer the MUG Summer Show.) |
