FTPc 1.56 / AcornSSL

FTPc 1.56 has a dependency on AcornSSL in it’s !Run, but the Module isn’t currently included in !SysMerge. Is a 26/32bit neutral version of AcornSSL available for download and will it be included in PlingSystem at some point in the future to cover RO3.x? The line in FTPc’s !Run that loads AcornSSL should probably be modified as the next line implies it should continue to load if AcornSSL isn’t available. Currently it will just error and fail to load, so the line should be changed to:

It’s already in HardDisc4 in the 350 part of !System, denoting it’s already 26/32 bit neutral but requires RISC OS 3.50 or later. Maybe you’ve got a bit confused about why PlingSystem exists? It’s not there to provide a standalone bundle of modules to bring an ancient Archimedes up to date, it’s there to supplement (overlay) the main HardDisc4 image. You need to start with that and then run !SysMerge inside PlingSystem. Truth be told PlingSystem only exists at all because nobody’s figured out a way to switch environment part way through a build (because some items legitimately need to be 26 bit only) and my cunning idea to merge the output ZIP files had various flaws which made it a non-starter. So 2 separate downloads it is plus a big reminder in bold next to the download link to remind you. |

Apologies, I somehow missed that when I looked.
My understanding was that HardDisk4 is the base for RO5 and PlingSystem is to update pre-RO5 OS with 26bit stuff that’s since been added or updated? The description should probably be changed as it currently states:
