Permanent Unlocking

I’m posting this here because I’m not confident enough in myself to declare it a bug, I feel like I must be missing something. But when I do this I just get an error dialogue which states “You must give the new password to do this.” For context, this is 5.28 on a Pi 400. |

Yes this looks like a real problem: the “change password” dialogue won’t let you set a null password to permanently unlock the computer. You can still unlock the computer by means of: Substitute your real password in place of (password) above. (note: post edited to remove a more long-winded method of clearing the password) |

When I used this last, to unlock permanently you 1st temporary unlock, then unlock a 2nd time to make it stick |

Yes, that works all the way back to RISC OS 4.39. This is clearly a documentation error: I’ve added it to the User Guide small corrections page. |

Yep, sure enough, unlocking twice does it. Thanks Mike, and thank you Stuart for adding to the corrections page! |
