ColourFiler not working

I have found Nemo’s ColourFiler very useful, but a few weeks ago it stopped colouring my Filer windows on this ARMX6. I have searched everywhere in the Boot sequence looking for what might be interfering and found nowt. Its module loading and colour definitions work as normal, as evidenced by output from *Filer_Colour, but (presumably following some unrecognised change in my setup) all filer backgrounds remain obstinately grey. Can anyone suggest where I might look for whatever is impeding ColourFiler? ColourFiler 0.12 |

Does reverting to a slightly earlier ROM image make it work again? |

ColourFiler 0.12 is all grey here too but fortunately I was living in the past, 0.07 is OK. |

In Choices:Boot.Tasks I have an Obey file called FlrSetup2 with the following commands: - *RMEnsure ColourFiler 0.06 RMRun System:Modules.ColourFile This sets up different colours by filing system type, and fades them down the further you get from the root directory. |

@Rick I find the same issue with an August (high vector) ROM on a Pi 400. Is Nemo here to help? |

I’m running an ARMX6 with RO 5.29 (20 Nov 22) and it is working well – [checks ColourFiler version] – 0.06, so it looks like I’ve never updated it. |

Bernard complained
It is common practice on Twitter to restrict Direct Messages to followers. You have been prevented from messaging me there because you didn’t click the Follow button first. What seems obvious to regular users seems tersely unhelpful to anyone else. I will switch off that restriction and see if it leads to more “beautiful women near you” desperately wanting to talk to me of all people, which is what caused that restriction in the first place.
Rather more seriously I did not notice which is unlike me. I find to my shame that the last version I smoke-tested on RO5 was 0.07. Ominously my changelog since provides the obvious clue to the cause:
In my defence I have been running my own version of FilterManager for years, and made sure to not use any facility that is specific to my branch, such as custom icons (twitter search) – but I forgot how ancient RO5 is. RO5’s FilterManager has not been updated since 2003. I’d have remembered that if I’d smoke-tested 0.09 three years ago. One thousand, one hundred and thirty five apologies. I will make the obviously-optional part actually optional, instead of refusing to do anything just because your API is twenty years old. I will release a new actually tested version some time today, with a permanent apology to Bernard in the help file in lieu of photographs of the welts of shame I shall self-inflict once I’ve finished typing through my tears. [And if some of the delusionists could quit imagining a glorious future and get around to actually catching up with the distant past it would be about bloody time, no?] |

Maybe the change on your twitter account will turn up ‘“beautiful women near you” desperately wanting to’ …help you out with the welting ;) |

For me, stuff beyond RO forums, a few news sites and occasional BBC TV comes down to 3rd party gossip, but some of that gossip speaks of “leather whips, maple syrup and chocolate sprinkles” – which is a mental picture that’s hard to erase no matter how many different colours my filer windows can be displayed in. |

Whips, syrup, sprinkles? Amateurs….. ;) |

TY. I will endeavour, in Steve’s memory, to visit often enough to answer Basic queries at the very least. |
