RaspberryPi fails to start Desktop with "&.!Boot" not found

For the second time my Raspberry Pi has started failing to boot properly with the message “&.!Boot” not found, “Retry” or “Cancel”. If I “Retry” it just repeats. If I “Cancel” I get to the desktop, but the !Boot has obviously not been run. When I look at the SDCard through the filer, it just shows the boot area with the ROM image and startup files in, with no sign of the RISC OS file structure. Last time I redid the card with Win32Imager and started again. Is there anything less drastic I can do to fix this? Does anybody have any ideas what may be causing it in the first place? Thanks, |

I have the same problem only with RC7. I go back to RC6 and all thinks fine. |

RC8 is out now. Give that a try. |

RC7 did have problems but not that should stop RISC OS seeing the filecore partition but the safest course is to use Win32DiskImager and RC8. |

I had this problem again yesterday. As usual I forgot to note exactly which release I was on. But I’m pretty sure I used PackMan to update it to the latest available release. (This was a couple of weeks ago so I don’t think the process of updating caused the problem). Is there any way I can get at some of the files on the RISC OS partition off the SDCard before I re-image it? I’ve got access to a Windows PC if that helps. I’ve been fairly good at ensuring my SDCard is backed up up to a USB stick, but as is always the case I had just done a load of code that I had not got backed up and would like to retrieve it instead of retyping it all. Thanks, |

create a new card, then load Risc OS then switch over the cards to see if the filecore partition is ok to get your work. |

Create or use another SD card and put the non working one in a card reader attached to your pi. n.b. RIGHT click to access the RISC OS partition then LEFT click to access the FAT partition. If you LEFT click first you will have to dismount the FAT partition before you can access the RISC OS Partition. |
