Printing from an OpenPandora
|
Hello all I would like to use my Pandora to print on my usb printer Brother HL-2030. But nothing happens… Thank you for your help. Regards |
|
At first printing from a Pandora works on the same way as printing from RiscPC with Castle USB, BB, BBxM, Panda and RPi and it works also with my a9home. Use you the NutPi Gutenprint? I not try this on my Pandora. I use a normally registered since I have the first batch Pandora. With my Epson the automaticly setup not work. Maybe your !Printers is not the Popup one. You should setup this manually. |

It is getting better: now the printer is detected and I can drag&drop the configuration file for my printer, but I have an issue with !GPSetup which complains “Could not read !Printers configuration files”. Any idea ? Thanks |
|
I’m not sure. I can not try this at this time. |

Hello Raik Thank you… I forgot to “save my choices” with !Printers Now, I have my Canon PIXMA MP530 working fine with the driver for the MP520. But my BROTHER HL-2030 is not recognised. Worst, when I plug the usb cable connected to the BROTHER, the usb stop working. Indeed, after unplugging the BROTHER usb cable from the Pandora, all other devices (usb key, the Canon PIXMA, etc… ) are no more recognised when plugging them to the usb port of the Pandora. Nothing happens anymore… This is very very weird :( Anyway, I have one of my printers working… this is already good. Cheers. François |

Use you a activ HUB? If not try it. |

Hi Raik It is true that the Brother HL-2030 does not appear in the Gutenprint printers list. I was hoping to find a driver close to it, as I did for my Canon PIXMA MP530. I just wanted to mention this issue with the USB port when connecting the BROTHER… I will try to follow your advice to track the issue. Cheers |

Well I never bothered with printing from RISC OS (other than to PDF) but since I do own a Brother HL- 2035 myself this does sound interesting. Perhaps Martin will show up and shed some light on the issue. |
|
The HL-2030 and the HL-2035 are both GDI printers, so it is very unlikely that there will ever be a RISC OS printer driver. |

Always assumed this was the point of Gutenprint but now turns out I was wrong. Not the end of the world though as printing is really a very low priority for me. My printer isn’t networked either so I’ll pass on the UniPrint option and get a PostScript printer next time. |

I would recommend a printer with direct PDF printing option. Simplifies many things. |
