What actually happens? Does it boot but no video?

You might need to force the HDMI output in the config file.

This forces HDMI and the Pi to output 720p.
It’ll also need disable_mode_changes in another file to force the GPU to always output 720p regardless of what RISC OS is using.

It either just stays blank, or gets to the little ROOL terminal window and hangs after ‘Acorn SCSIFS’.

I believe the recorder can cope with either 1920×1080 or 1280×720 but, since my usual res on the Pi 400 is 1920×1200, I must also check that it’s not trying start up with an incompatible res.
