USB to Ethernet adaptor issue

Hi, I picked up a cheap USB to Ethernet adaptor which doesn’t appear to work with RISC OS. It states it is a ASIX AX88179A via USBInfo. Vendor ID 0b95 Looking at the products via EtherUSB>EJProducts I can see it supports AX88772/AX88172 so I assume until it is added to the EtherUSB sources it will not work? |

Is an CDC Ether device. You need the latest EtherUSB from Thomas. |

Hi Raik, Thanks for that. It works now once I uninstall the ROD 7.03 Internet stack and install the updated EtherUSB module. So for now I can use the device with the ROOL internet stack but not the ROD one as that installs it’s own EtherUSB module (7.03). Hopefully the next ROD stack update will have the updated elements to EtherUSB included. Oh what a tangled web we weave. |

I use it with the ROD stack on Pinebook Pro. It works. I have remove all the copys of the other EtherUSB modules, also the 7.03 one from ROD. |

Hi Raik, Thanks for confirming it should work with the ROD stack. I tried it on my normal Pinebook and the machine locked so will try it on the Pro I have and also re-try on the older one as well after making sure the other instances of EtherUSB are safely out of the way. |

Hi Raik, I tried EtherUSB 0.43 with ROD’s 7.03 stack and it is a bit unrealiable in obtaining an IP address via my Vonets Wifi Bridge device. The ROOL stack seems to be more consistant in obtaining an address so for now I will leave the Pinebook Pro with the ROOL stack as that works better with my network combination. Thanks for your help in getting the Ethernet adaptor working for me. |
