Fix a program on the desktop?

I copy a program to the desktop. But after reboot it’s gone frome the desktop. What make I wrong? Micky |

Your question lacks some critical information, but I think you dragged a program from a filer window onto the desktop – actually onto the pinboard. If you want to keep the short cut (it’s a short cut, unless you’re running Pinboard 2), you should save the pinboard before rebooting. Click MENU on an empty spot in the pinboard, and choose SAVE. |

BTW. If you are in the habit of copying files and executables to the desktop on ANY system – don’t. Much better to create a directory at a convenient place on the disc, create a desktop shortcut that points at the directory and then when you want to save stuff open the shortcut and save into the viewer that opens. On an enterprise system you will have a directory on the server that you can point to, on a personal system it may just be the local disc, but either way trashing the profile doesn’t destroy your data. |
