I make a test with !Messenger. But: Module “ZapRedraw” is not 32-bit compatible. This means that Risc OS Pi is a 32-bit system? Micky |

The processor originally created by Acorn 1 has always been 32 bit, however in the early days (Acorn…), there was a technical issue that is often referred to as “26 bit” (because it could only address 64MB of memory, hence 26 bits). It’s a bit confusing, certainly, but the bottom line is that older stuff probably won’t work on newer machines unless it’s written in BASIC. 2 How have you set up your Pi? A download from here? RISC OS Direct? Look in the Apps thingy on the icon bar to see if there’s an application called “!Store”. If there is, run it. If not, you can get it from http://www.plingstore.org.uk/exec/ps/download.aw When you see the software list, get yourself a copy of “Zap Ultimate” (not Zap 3), and within that is a 32 bit version of ZapRedraw. It’s part of !ZapFonts and it goes in !Boot.Resources. There are instructions on how to install Zap. You’ll also find lots of interesting/useful software there. 1 https://www.theregister.com/2023/08/31/a_star_star_domains/ 2 I know there’s Aemulor, but let’s keep this simple. 3 ZapUltimate is the recommended 32 bit version. |
