VirtualRPC-DL which serial number?

I had it running with everything between and including XP and 10 with the exception of Vista and 8, so I think it is unlikely to not work in principle. However, it is quite sensitive wrt DirectX implementations, so if you can, try to update your graphics driver. |

I presume you are talking about RedSq – working on various versions of Windows. Pity there wasn’t a faster version plus 512Mb of main ram ie I don’t remember a A310 machine with 16Mb of memory – but it seems that the Arc Emulators do :-) |

I tested RedSquirrel with another pc with Windows Vista too. Works, but it has no real floppy support. Micky |

Did you copy over the floppy ddl to the new machine? |

Did you copy over the floppy ddl to the new machine? Yes, I did. Micky |

Again, useful to know that it doesn’t. I think the floppy driver post-dates the last Red Squirrel release and was probably developed for Virtual A5000. |

It’s a pity VRpc DL doesn’t have Say RO 5.28 option. You can get around it by double booting the OS from early in !Boot.run – it’s quick. Just needs a 32bit host and Internet module. On Windows side – with use of a txt editor of the ‘model’ file you can change the memory max to 256 + 0 Note backup file before doing changes. |

And we keep telling you why |

And Arc A310s as far as I know didn’t have 16Mb but Emulators do! Raik says some RPc boards could handle 512Mb! |

I doubt that anyone ever did a 16MB upgrade for A310, but the architecturally similar A3000 recently got such an update! https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=397038#p397038 And it is so neat.
I remain unconvinced about RPC and 512MB. I strongly suspect that it was a Kinetic RPC. |

There were no out-of-the-box solutions for the A310 that were actually produced (although the State Machine “Cluster Card” came near), but in theory it was possible, since the A540 was basically a slightly-souped-up A310. 8 MB Dual-MEMC solutions for the A310 existed, so 16 MB Quad-MEMC would have been possible.
No, he didn’t say that, because he didn’t actually test that the number that one specific RISC OS version printed out on boot (most probably because of a RAM configuration misdetection) was actually the memory that was really usable. It is a different case with the amount of VRAM, which can be successfully faked by emulators by patching the OS because it was “just” a physical limitation of the hardware, but not by the VIDC20 or the OS memory map. |

Do you have the latest 26/32bit sharedCLib installed from the RiscOS open site? Next download the RPc RO5 softload. You should get as far as the RO 5 desktop. Edit etc should work from apps. No HostFS because it is only 26bit. |

Thanks for the pointer to the A3000 16Mb board upgrade – something for Iconbar :-) |

The floppy driver works under Windows 8.1 too. Micky |
