filer_run is queueing app

I am trying to launch an application from within a python program from a menu entry using:

    os.system("filer_run <Hola$Dir>.^.!raffle")

Nothing appears to happen when the "run !Raffle… " menu is clicked.
However when the launcher program is quit the !Raffle program starts up.
Any advice welcome.

Problem has circumvented.
It was connected with a python logging file.
The run was somehow waiting for the logging file to close. I have removed the logger and !raffle now launches immediately
