VirtualRPC-DL with Windows XP is slow. I have: Dell Optiplex GX240 Minimum specification for VirtualRPC-DL: 1 Ghz processor – supports single core, dual, quad etc Is this normally or is something wrong? All other programs that i testet runs perfect. Micky |

Make sure you have latest GPU and directX drivers. Those P4s could be pretty slow – the Core2Duo which followed it was MASSIVELY faster in VA (bigger cache). We used AMD Athlons instead of P4s for VRPC, by the way. The AGP 6200 should be fine – we used those in early RISCubes and performance was solid – faster than SA RiscPC. Again, we have noticed that faster GPU RAM can have a major performance impact – some graphics cards with slow RAM can actually slow down VRPC! But, I think, those 6200 AGPs were mostly OK. Nvidia is usually better than AMD for VRPC, although honestly, the RAM speed is more imporant. It benefits from dual channel RAM, and also try adjusting “allow mode change” option for graphics settings – this can have significant impact on performance. Finally, be careful about what AV software you use – some can badly impact VRPC performance, or stop it working altogether. |

It is the wrong CPU. Thanks for your tips. I know with a Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.50 GHz the program is fast und works normally. I changed the driver for the graphic card to an older version, works better, but it is slow too. It is a pity that this Cpu is to slow for VirtualRPC-DL. Directx is the reason that this is so slow, I think. Micky |

I’ve highlighted the problem. My PC is a 2.8GHz P4, and it too can be slow. It is faster than a regular single core because it can maintain two separate execution states, but it is slower than dual core…because it isn’t. |

That means take a Pentium Dual Core and all is good. Micky |

I test it with: It works very fast and perfect. Micky |
