Does anyone know. Has:

VirtualRPC-SE or VirtualRPC-SA or VirtualRPC AdjustSA

a real network card?

I have VirtualRPC-DL. This has no one.

No. As we’ve previously explained, all of the Virtual… products use a network shim on to the Windows stack.

Is it not possible to use a real network card? I think not, but eventually someone has a good idea how to manage this.

After seeing this topic and your previous one on floppies, I suspect what you actually need to do is buy yourself a real Risc PC.

Emulators do the barest minium to allow most software to work, they are not complete simulations of actual hardware.

Good, idea. I’m not really a fan of emulators. But did you see the prices for RiscOS PC’s? Except the Raspberry Pi.

To clear up some confusion here. A Risc PC is a specific model of RISC OS computer, the last one produced commercially by Acorn. A Raspberry pi is one of many computers that can run RISC OS.

The Risc PC (usually abbreviated to RPC) had a case that could be expended upwards by adding slices, a built-in floppy drive and internal hard drive.

The processor is a plug-in module, which could be ARM6, ARM7 or StrongARM. If you’re buying one, look for StrongARM.

It had a podule connector which allowed one or two expension podules to be installed. {Podules are hardware boards that also contain ROMs for their drivers.)

There isn’t a built-in ethernet connector, that’s on one of a range of podules.

The additional slices could hold up to 2 additional storage devices, and provided space, with a backplane expander, for two additional podules.

They were shipped initially with RO3 installed, later with RO4.02. There is a version of RO5 for them. VirtualRPC and RPCemu emulate the RPC operating environment.

ROS 4.02 wasn’t an Acorn product and didn’t ship with Risc PCs. 3.7 was the last public release I think.
