command redirection in Set Alias$

The command below saves a list of sysvars and their values to file yyy.

*show * { > RAM::X6_RAM.$.yyy }

This next command does not do what I expected. It sprays the results
on to the TaskWindow instead of saving them to yyy

*SET alias$jvar    show * { > RAM::X6_RAM.$.yyy }
*jvar
splurge

John, put a pipe character | before the >, so you have:
*SET alias$jvar show * { |> RAM::X6_RAM.$.yyy }

Thanks Richard, the alias jra now creates a file yyy in RAM as required.

Now to do something about the X0E that it outputs as the first character.

I suppose it is trying to put the terminal into paging mode so it can be scrolled.
Doesn’t work here though and as an unwanted by-product it causes StrongED to open in Dump mode.

ISTR there was a flag to turn paging on/off but I can’t find any mention in the PRMs
