extending Run$Path

I have some scripts which define new commands. They are in a directory jr.bin.
In order to make them available I run the follwing code at boot.

| add jr scripts to runpath
set Run$PathSave <Run$Path>
set Run$Path <Run$Path>,SCSI::SSD.$.JR.bin.

It works but I fear that messing about with the run path is likely to cause grief.
Is there an official RISC OS way to configure Run$Path?

Page 512 of the RISC OS 5 User Guide contains a suggested method of extending Run$Path, essentially the same as the method you are using (but with a little tweak to ensure the directory only gets added once).

I thought there was an AddPath utility, but on checking it’s only available in RISC OS Select.

That is reassuring. I could not quite believe it could be so simple.
For Python to add PythonUser$Path it is more complicated and involvesa running a BASIC program.
Which for all the complication does not actually work.

Thanks for that warning. It is more than possible that my obey file would get to be run multiple times as I am still actively
developing it. I can’t use the solution suggested but can set a one time flag to prevent multiple appends.
