RPi screensettings lost after reboot

I use the RC8 Image with my own MDF (1360×768@68Hz) for the Lapdock. |

is the LoadModeFile entry in predesk set correctly (i.e. pointing at your mdf)? I’m sure something changed mine behind my back, whilst I was updating things on my lapdock over the last few days. |

I’m not sure what you mean. Is there a difference in predesk for the original RC8 ROM and for the newer ones? LoadModeFile entry? In PreDesk.Configure is a Monitor Obey and the settings in this are correct. If these entries are not set appropriately when I have configure a monitor via Configure → Screen? |

Yes I was referring to the obey file PreDesk.Configure.Monitor. I think for me, when I used Packman to update the ROM to the nightly build, I lost my screen settings both via !configure and the obey file. Ok, I think I was probably just barking up the wrong tree with my first suggestion. I did just try changing my refresh rate to 68 and I got the same issue as you (defaults to 1080p). I use 70Hz so try that (in PreDesk.Configure.Monitor). I have no idea why there would be this change of behaviour. Edit: I’m also sure that I had to manually select 70Hz in the monitor obey file, and that the !configure → screen settings with my custom mdf file resulted in a 60Hz refresh rate. Maybe refresh rate can be set in mdf / is set incorrectly in our mdf files? (I haven’t got this far yet, I just copy-pasted a lapdock mdf from this forum – I haven’t played around with it too much yet). |

I use my own MDF on all my machines. No Problem. The MDF works. I can set up this via !Configure Screen andist works for this session but it will be lost after restart. The settings in PreDesk.Configure.Monitor are ignored. |

Thanks Raik, I have a better understanding of how the MDFs are set up now. I have just been playing with !MakeModes and created an MDF I can call my own. I have no idea why your settings are ignored on reboot. Are you using the latest nightly ROM? Did you also install the latest HardDisk4 archive? Does this happen on a “fresh” system with only your MDF and no other custom stuff? Do you wish someone more informed would respond to your problem? :) |

You can also use GetMonInfo . |

Yes the latest is 5.21, although the zip filename suggest it is still 5.19. Maybe a bug arose and has now been fixed? GetMonInfo doesn’t seem to generate any meaningful modes on the rpi (returning resolutions of 248×155 on my lapdock). I don’t have another machine with risc os. |

Not fixed. With the last 5.21 (16-06) it works also not. Set the Screen it works after reboot the settings lost. Back to 5.19 … all things fine. |

I have the same problem using 5.21 on RPCemu – see my post here Mike |
