5.30 boot problems

I installed the soft load version on a Titanium (rapido). The ROM seems to work OK, but boot has problems.

The first problem thing that happens is that the Network configuration window opens. I have to Escape or Cancel before anything else happens.

I have !Reporter running at boot and this window seems to open even before Reporter loads.

Yes – I suspect you have been running the ROD stack?
If so, you should uninstall it, the run InSituUpdate for 5.30, and check that works.
Then, re-install ROD stack if you wish.

It looks like ROOL haven’t been very clever in not realising that many people will be running the ROD stack and the InStuUpdate seems to cause problems for such users.

This is why RODev called for volunteers to help test things… iron out the bugs.

Why is it down to ROOL, the modification is by the user and ROD, so it is up to them in my view as the base distribution is ROOL’s.

Rather like buying a new car , modifying and then complaining to the manufacturer it doesn’t work correctly.

The onus is on ROD or anyone else who is supplying modified code/components in my view.

All that I think ROOL could do is put a warning to ensure you are running standard ROOL distribution components though it does seem the wireless add on plays nicely with both stacks.

Finally Rick mentions beta testing and I
have beta tested both ROOL and ROD compenents, and got great support from both when need, so the more people who test then potentially things can be avoided or mitigations put in place but as ever if you have modified things then expect to at least revert to supplied code to rule out any issues.
