Is there a way to modify Resources:$.Apps.!Printers? |

If you look at the !Run inaside Printers it will tell you where it is on your hard drive, then alter the !Run file for printers from there. It might be worth doing a back up of it first. |

Thanks I’ll have a go |

Printers app, I woud expect to be in your Printing folder. As for PrintPDF, why not just add it to the Run at Boot option in Configure. It is the simple and effective way to run it and you don’t need to start messing with the !Printers boot file. |

Another way is to create an Obey file that loads them both when clicked upon. On my system Printers is in the directory called Printing and PrindPDF in a sub directory there called PrintPDF so I did a quick test with an obey file.
This worked and when PRinters is updated you dont’t have to change the !Run file again. |

I take it Kevin you know this is the same as what adding it to the RUN at Boot option in Configure does! |

I just stuck:
into mine. Just fiddle that to point to the correct location for where PrintPDF is (I put it with !Printers). |

Yes Chris, but the way I read the orginal post is that Printers is not run all the time, so create an Obey file and double click on it when you want Printers Loaded, |

I am setting up a new machine for my wife and trying to make as few changes as possible. I thought about using an obey file but she is used to finding and using !Printers in the Apps directory. I have used Kevin’s suggestion and modified the !Run file. |

You should able to create a directory called !Printers somewhere on your drive and put the obey file Kevin suggested into at, calling it !Run. Then use *AddApp in a different obey file to point to this !Printers directory you made. This obey file with *AddApp should be run at boot. The default !Printers in Apps should now run your custom !Printers instead of the default one. |

Think I will switch to this. It is better than modifying Release version code |

If the issue is iconbar space and not memory, just tick the option to hide the iconbar icon in PrintPDF’s choices. You can then run it at boot, and it’s there in the background when needed. To access the choices when the icon is hidden, just run PrintPDF from the Filer with Alt held down. The copy in memory will open its Choices dialogue, and the second copy won’t start. |
