Network Failure With Latest Boot (5.30)

After installing the latest Boot (5.30) from ROOL’s HardDisc4 via InSituBootUpdate the machine fails to boot correctly with the Network > Configuration window displayed unexpectedly. Clicking Save continues booting but then follows a message File ’ShareFSWindow’ not found. Desktop is entered but no ShareFS icons appear on iconbar. In desktop regular cycling of the Hourglass occurs. Where do I go from here please? Raspberry Pi model 2B / RISC OS 5.28 (10-Feb-22) / Internet software: 5.95 (07-Apr-2022) |

Did you have the ROD network stack installed before the update? |

No, not on this machine. Although its the reverse of your suggestion I’ll install the ROD stack and see what happens – the problem almost certainly is a stack issue and installing it might sort this problem. Thanks for your quick response. |

Installing ROD stack has got it working. At first it didn’t but I vaguely remember that the Ethernet on older R-Pi models works through the USB. I went into Interfaces under Configuration > Network > Internet and the “Ethenet over USB” was not set. Once set and applied all my shares appeared on the iconbar – horrah!! I haven’t seen any reports but are you aware of issues with the ROOL stack working with the recent RO5.30 Boot program? |

The only issue I remember for using the OS 5.30 boot with an OS 5.28 ROM is that saving pinboard config could add a new option not available in 5.28 causing the boot sequence to fail. |
