No problem, I found the info in the EtherK user guide, Appendix A – Supported Adapters. The good news is the 82540 controller, which is in the MT1000 is supported. The bad news, for me at least, is that the card isn’t recognised in my Iyonix. Edited to say I think the MT was intended for server usage and the GT for desktops, though my MT does state ‘Desktop Adapter’ on the label. I may have a GT somewhere …. Another edit, just for info, the GT was detected and works out of the box with a static IP setup. DHCP I guess should work but always been a problem here. |

So, continuing with the woes, I’ve replaced most of the Capacitors and the crystal that forms part of the network mod seems secure at both ends but I’m still getting freezes. However, with all the testing and differing hardware combinations I’ve used, I’m starting to see a common theme emerging. Although I could be off. The freezing seems to happen whenever there is more than two PCI cards present. It seems stable with just the graphics card and the original USB card. Adding a second USB card or a PCI network card causes it to freeze. With the network card I was able to install it, boot and configure it but it froze shortly afterwards. As some of the network drivers have been made 32bit safe, I wonder if a flashed i-cubed/DesignIT branded EtherLan 500/600/700 would work in the backplane? |
