When did “C” become a valid command in icon validation strings? It isn’t in the docs for RO3.5, unless I’ve missed something. |

So it’s part of the Phoebe work, not an Acorn official release. |

Pfft. It was added as part of the Java project, not Ursula/Phoebe. http://www.vigay.com/inet/acorn/nested.html#swi400c2 (I could’ve sworn I extended the toolbox gadgets for 24bpp colours, but I can’t find anything so I maybe it was just on my todo list.) |

I did wonder if it was part of the nested Wimp… The obvious question is why isn’t that document included in *.desktop.wimp.docs? |

Copy-paste that phrase for all manner of things. ;) |

RISC OS 3.8 Note that (I should clarify that the RO4/6 “selected” colours are used for b21 icon selection not text selection, sadly. So you can’t have text highlighted in different colours in different writables. You can’t even cheat by selecting the writable that contains the selection – it still uses fg+bg for text selection or the wimp-wide custom text selection colours. Boo.) All of these colours are available to Custom Icons, so it’s possible to use all ten colours within an icon:
It would be unusual to require that number of colours, but it’s nice to have the option. That’s a Type90 icon like these – there are only six icons here:
