Is the *Debug usable command?

How to use the Debug star command? Article in PRM4.pdf I read is written very poorly.
I got the impression that this command does nothing, except that changes the shell prompt.
Does anyone know what’s the point?

I assume the PRM pdf contains info similar to on the wiki here. It "officially enters the debugger", so perhaps someone else can expand on what else it may do.

From the code line 5115 it just changes the prompt to debug*.

Someone must have thought it was a good idea.

Ah I’ve thought of a use.

If you are using BASIC interactively with *basic then you can use the debugger in this mode with *debug and return when you are finished. It’s a command line shell.
