RISC OS without tears

Ok so I thought I’d take SystemDisk out for a spin and update my BB-xM to RISC OS 5.20. After faffing about with HForm (what is the soak test for, it just seems to lock up my machine?) I finally managed to create my SD dual filing system card. Fiddled it in and rebooted.
Well at least I switched it off and on again, it actually did not re*boot*.

Aha, thought I: it’s looking for the Bootdrive!

Manually typed in all the configure stuff and sure enough it seemed to work now. If you consider EGA resolution “working”.
Copied my ARMini MDF archive over that I luckily kept on my “storage” drive and boot merged it.
No networking either (what did I copy the cmos file for then?).
Started setting up DHCP and re-booted.

Oh, wait: no bootdrive detected. Again?

At this point I gave up, replaced the SD card and plugged my old BOOT usb pen drive back in. Actually I had to create that one earlier this year after 5.19 needed a new Boot structure and that seemmed as good as any a point for making a clean break.
I do not however fancy having to rebuild my computer from scratch every couple of months. Especially since this is a 8GB class 6 card that I’d probably want to replace as soon as I’m able to buy something better.

I mean it takes about an entire week to get everything back working again, searching for some obscure modules that you forgot about and all that kind of stuff. Yuk.

JusI hope you did not forget to make “*configure filesystem SDFS” :)
You manage to mount the SDFS partition after the boot?
