Raspberry Pi Issues

I recently hooked my RasPi back up, downloaded the latest img for it. I really liked RiscOS this time around, I bought NutPi and a USB hub so that I can experiment. I’d like to be able to play ScummVM but I made sure I have the required libraries and I get a black screen when I try to load a game, and the RasPi locks up. Not sure where to go as I don’t get an error message. I am using the latest version downloaded off of !PackMan. My USB keyboard is also flakey on the RasPi, I have to keep unplugging it even with a USB powered hub. It’s probably the keyboard though. Can the RasPi be overclocked for RiscOS? I’d like to try MP4 playback. I am using a 64GB usb stick on the hub for extra storage. I’d like the RasPi to have more content so that I can stay for ahwile. Any gaming suggestions? Can you do Shoutcast/Internet radio streams? |

Hi, I had trouble with ScummVM initially too. Try starting with one game on the SD card and with ScummVM on there too. Make sure that UnixHome has been seen, (also from !PackMan.) This should get things working and create a /scummvmrc text file. Once this is created, it can be edited to change the drive and path to somewhere else. I found I couldn’t navigate to another drive, in my case a 32Gb USB stick, but modify the path names in the above file and it works for me. [scummvm] In the root of my USB stick I have a directory Scumm, then inside that I have !!UnixHome, !ScummVM and other folders that contain data files for different games. There may well be a better soloution, but this works for me at the moment. Someone will probably tell me I should have UnixHome on the SDcard where it can be seen sooner and used by other stuff, but I am currently working from a number of SDcards, but using the USB stick as mass(?!) storage/backup. |

I’m aware and have experienced the repeating key issue, but have not had it for a good while now. My current setup is a cheap Asda £5 keyboard in the upper USB port (RPi model B version 2) and an unpowered USB 4 port hub in the lower USB port also with budget supermarket mouse and a SanDisk Cruzer Edge 32G USB stick. Occassionaly a USB>Parallel printer adaptor too. Power is a mains to USB 5V 1A thingy and lead. This may be contradictory to a similar topic on this link |

Stephen, regarding !Unixhome, I think the main thing to remember is the HOME variable can only be in one place at a time. Some ports give confusing nessages when HOME is not set, and it is worth checking for it existing before starting the program. In your case, if you are swapping sticks in and out it may be worth checking that the path exists with *IfThere as well. |

Thanks guys, got ScummVM to work now. Can anyone suggest a streaming MP3 player? Can anyone suggest any other games? |
