No network interfaces were detected

I’ve got a Raspberry Pi with an ethernet connection to a router. In the Networking config, when I click ion the Interfaces configuration icon, I get the message “No network interfaces were detected”. Anyone know what’s wrong? |

Mm, I get that. It’s why I configured my network manually → https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/2354 I was wondering if it was due to using a pre 5.20 boot setup with 5.21. Since setting up the thing again is a pile of bother, editing the config file by hand was a much simpler “fix”. ☺ |

Any unplugged modules? |

Nope.
Yep, that was it, thanks! I think I’ll wait for an RC12 disc image before using it too much. |

We had this error on our Demo Pi at the SW Show. The only difference was we weren’t connected to a network with a DHCP server but I’m not sure if that was the cause. Andrew fixed it when we got back to the shop, by reloading the same ROM image to the Loader partition (The ROM image also contains a Pi’s CMOS settings) I don’t think there where any unplugged modules! |

If you have an old !boot you may need the latest |

The problem wasn’t caused by lack of a DHCP server, and I didn’t fix it by reinstalling the same ROM. We had a later-than-RC11 ROM installed (can’t remember what version, off hand), and the configuration had always been set to ‘DHCP’. At the Show I tried to set a static IP and got the error message “No network interfaces detected”. Swapping back to an RC11 ROM later allowed changing the network configuration. I suspect the problem was caused by having a later-than-RC11 ROM but an RC11 !Boot, as Colin says. |
