FTP client for RISC OS?

Is !FTPc what I want for this? Do people use this, or is there something else I ought to consider in preference? I want to make some of my RISCOS software, and some of my fonts, available to anyone who’s interested. I’ve got a website, which I maintain using FileZilla on my PC, on which I’ll put a directory for RISC OS stuff – but it would be ideal to upload it from the Pi directly. I assume that if I do that, the file types will be preserved? Or am I being naïve? |

FTPc is what I use for ftp, “work’s ok for me”TM ftpc can, but doesn’t appear to “translate” the filetypes by default. |

Hmm. I’m very familiar with SparkFS – had it at work years ago – and I don’t begrudge Mr Pilling his pennies for it in the least, but I’ve only got the read-only version at home, and as a semipecunious pensioner* I don’t spend money lightly. If needs must, so be it – but the files aren’t big by modern internet standards anyway. I could supply a “run me” file that set all the filetypes, then you’d only have that one file to set the type on – which you have to do with the archive anyway, no?

Fair enough, so you just need a means of creating ZIP files on RISC OS (and reading the contents) so try InfoZip |

Thanks, Steve – and Malcolm. I’ve got !FTPc now and am playing with that; will look at InfoZip shortly… |

FTPc works well enough but since my server doesn’t allow unsecure connections I use PSFTP via Nettle: |

If I end up using InfoZip I might well upload from my PC with FileZilla anyway. We’ll see. |

Wrapped in a zip made on a RO machine, the end user then gets a nice set of file typed files… :) |

Yup, that’s what I figured! :) |

And indeed what I’ve now done: http://clive.semmens.org.uk/RISCOS/ – InfoZip and FTPc – magic! 8~) It’d be nice if Javascript worked on NetSurf…also ought to look at why the height of my “Top” frame is duff on NetSurf…I could just increase it, but then it would be more than ideal on PC… |

…worked fully might be a more accurate comment. script support is improving (assuming you have the javascript enabled version) |

The only use I make of it is to allow a query string in URLs to link to my site, with a particular subframe loaded. I don’t really know Javascript – just create variations on a standard theme to achieve this particular effect. Crikey – tried to copy my Javascript (& associated HTML) in for a “thus” – and can’t format it to be even barely readable on here. I guess Netsurf is processing bits of it? If anyone wants me to, I’ll have another go later… |
