Unrar port

I have downloaded a few rar files (part01/part02 and so on)
QuickPar verified them all as ok but when unpack with rar 3.30 from Stefan Bellon (the only one I know) every file has CRC errors.
Most of the time the unpacked files are ok (with the option “keep broken files”)
But sometimes files are missing from the RAR package.(file has 0 bytes size, and the original files don’t have illegal characters such as “&” or “^”)
I think it is because the 3.30 version is too old by now.Almost everything on binary newsservers are packed with at least rar 3.50.

Is there somewhere a newer port ? (version 3.50 or even the new rar 5.0 ?)
The source code is available on www.rarlab.com but while the my lucky port of QuickPar does work the code of RAR is way to difficult for me.
I know the rar format is not used much on RO (but I need it as part of my NZB-grab package :) )

The other problem with the current unrar 3.30 port is that it is not ARMv7 compatible. I tried it a few weeks back on the PandaRO and it failed.

I use unrar 3.30 on my PandaRO, I’ll fire up the 19 years old RPC to see if unrar spit out the same CRC errors in the rar header…….

Are you running the PB with alignment exceptions on or off? I always run with AEs on.

AE is off
I use !HID an it freeze the Panda when you try to run it with AE on.

I have tried 4 sets of rar archives on my RPC and PI.
Unrar 3.30 give with all sets the same CRC errors. (and I missed a few files from the archive)

Unpack the sets on my Mac and everything was fine.
So It is not a bug in my nzb downloadprogram, but something in the unrar absolute on my system.
I think rar sets made with version 3.50 are not always backwards compatible with version 3.30

I’ve done a quck port of unrar 5.10 beta 3 to RISC OS. You can download it from here.

I’ve only tested it on a few rar files. I successfully unrared ones that gave a crc error with the existing version. It also works with alignment exceptions turned on.
There are still a few bugs that need fixing but it should still be usable.

I have tested it with a rar set I downloaded today
(/part01/rar —> /part27/rar 156MB each file)
Command parameters was a bit of figuring out because the original set was named :
More Greatest Hits Of The 80’s (8-CD)(flac)/partxx/rar
At first I got ‘nothing to extract, but after renaming the set to just ’More/partxx/rar’ everything was OK
(command line accept no spaces in filename)
No CRC errors this time and all files extracted including the few with ‘illegal RO chars)
I’m planning to make a very simple front end for it so it is easy to remove all spaces in the filename – I can live with that.
