Printing from Netsurf

I just configured print to PDF last night, works great in my programs, except for NetSurf, I get a redraw error. Is this a known issue or can I do something to print to PDF from NetSurf? Chris |

I have the same problem (RPi RC12) but I’m sure that it works also with Netsurf in the past. Actually I use Netsurf 3.1 but I’m not sure which version I used in the past for print to PDF. |

Using RPCEmu: If you load the Linotype 100 Print driver and print from !PDF it works. I think the issue is NetSurf rather than PrintPDF (or Postscript/Ghostscript) |

i am using my RasPi. I downloaded NetSurf 3.0 for the heck of it and got the same problem. I think it is an issue with !Netsurf like you said. Chris |

So, my first shot was correct. It seems NetSurf doesn’t like the Postscript 2 drivers. Not a PrintPDF issue. |

It’s more that the RISC OS PostScript drivers don’t like Unicode. NetSurf is one of the few RISC OS apps that actually supports Unicode, so it’s with NetSurf that you see the problem. John Tytgat and Martin Würthner’s Postscript drivers support Unicode. |

Thanks for the links. Not sure if I want to spend that kind of money just to print from NetSurf, but there is my answer! |

However, if you consider that from another angle: 1 Reliance on a paid for driver set can only be seen as a negative point |

I’m afraid I agree. Adding Unicode support to FontManager but not to PDriverPS was understandable in the Pace years but has long been unacceptable for desktop use. Even if one were phobic about creating a CID font or even a Type0 composite, the driver could emit multiple “8 bit” fonts of <255 glyphs each. In other words, even if one wanted to maintain the technical advantage of a commercial solution (and I don’t think that’s ROOL’s job), one could still support Unicode in an inelegant way. But not supporting it at all really means that Unicode isn’t finished yet… but we knew that already! |

Until a better solution you can be printed with !Phoenix. For pages that Phoenix can not display helps the complete export via Netsurf. |

I thought that it did if you printed the drawfile from DrawPrint |

Yes, DrawPrint is excellent – I use ViewXLS and then save as drawfile (but to drawprint) to print something. |
