Memory sticks

I have two Risc PCs both running 4.04 and both with an STD Unipod. One reads most memory sticks, the other is reduced to only recognising an old Peak 1GB stick, which I can’t imagine will last much longer. Has anyone any idea why it should fail to recognise anything else (including several old USB 2.0 sticks)? I don’t want to lose the ability to transfer files from this machine. |

FAT or Filecore? For FAT try a newer Version of DosFS. |

Are the ‘OtherDevs’ files within MassFS the same? |

Filecore, presumably? ‘Other Devs’ looks very ancient – 256Mb maximum (several submitted by CJE, of course!) |

Which was clearly the problem. Added the file from riscos.info and all other sticks now work. (The strange thing is that some of them used to work anyway – it’s only relatively recently that I got reduced to one.) |

You can use the USB-Util from Kees Meijer to add unknown devices. Written for the a9home, I mean, but it works with the unipod (same simtec stack). |

From where? |

Good question, take it to Kees. ;-) The old link is broken. |

Colin: Hopefully you’ve kept copies as I’d have recommended using the OtherDevs from your other computer that ‘was reading most pens’. You may (On our advice) have added devices to either or both OtherDevs that are not in the riscos.info file. |

Thanks Chris : yes, I have copies. |
