Podule ROMS

I have RISC OS 5.20 (10 Jun 2013) ROMs in one of my RISC PCs. I have updated the EtherH flash ROM but I was wondering how to determine whether any modules contained within podule ROMs are 32-bit compliant.
The most up to date podule that I have is a NETproducts V34 modem podule which was designed to go with an ARM7500FE system and so did not need to be 32-bit compliant. I tried this in the RISC PC and each module within its ROM was shown as “Dormant”. Is this what is shown when the modules are not 32-bit compliant? In addition to the modules, I understand that the initialisation code has to be 32-bit compliant as well. With the modem podule installed, the RISC PC would not start up properly about 50% of the time, stopping at the command line with the following error message.
Error: UndefinedInstruction:Undefined instruction at &FC1EA7F0 (Error Number &80000000)
Can anyone confirm that this address relates to the the boot code in the ROM. The RISC PC is a single-slice machine and the podule was in the upper slot. Why only about 50% of the time it failed?
Following on from that, how can we go about creating 32-bit compliant podule ROMs in the absence of the original author’s source code. Is it possible?
I have an Atomwide triple serial port podule which I would like to use with RISC OS 5. I have not yet tried it with RISC OS 5 as it is in constant use in a RO4 machine. Should it not be 32-bit compliant, should I contact Atomwide to see if they would recompile the source, or is there another way?

From the sound of things you’re examining the modules status with Verma or similar.

Plug the unit into your non-RO5.2 RISC PC and use Verma to extract the modules to a handy file area.

Sometimes the only incompatibility is the absence of the flag in the header. Sometimes you have the other extreme with end to end 32 bit incompatible code. Usually it’s minor.
