Shutdown RISC OS Pico

Firstly thanks for the excellent work on RISC OS, especially Pico. Apologies, this is probably a newbie question, but Google does not seem to be my friend. How do I shutdown Pico on the Raspberry PI? My experience with SD cards is that it is relatively easy to cause corruptions with unexpected power withdrawl. I’ve tried quitting Basic and then various CRTL-SHIFT F12 combos. This only results in a double pipe character being written to the terminal. In the end I went with *SHUTDOWN and pulling the plug. Is this correct? Thanks Eddie |

I think that a ‘controlled shutdown’ is only really of importance in a multi-tasking environment where each task is sent a ‘PreQuit’ and ‘Quit’ message before a message tells the user that it’s OK to power off. The Pico is single-tasking and RISC OS doesn’t thrash the hard disc all the time like windows. You could simply do a *unmount command if you’re paranoid or a ‘QUIT’ command to exit BASIC but I’d just turn off. After all you know that nothing is happening – you can see the ‘>’ prompt is just waiting… |

*dismount only operates on the current filing system. Though I see the text for ‘*help shutdown’ is: Should: |
