Aleph One Game

I downloaded Aleph One and created the wrapper but it crashes before loading the game. I get past the preferences and then it dies. Has anyone gotten the game to run? I’m on a Pi. |

I decided to have a go at this, so downloaded the zip. However, when I used PackMan, it didn’t ask me where to install the game but just did so without saying where. The instructions tell me I can easily see where it was put by looking in the Info Window or the Components Window – but there’s no specific information on how to display these windows; just a few vague words about clicking on the iconbar icon which doesn’t mention those windows, and a few windows which I can get it to display don’t say what their names are and nothing says where the game is. :( |

That’s something that is slowly being fixed. The packages need to be updated to allow you to set the install locations so you can put it where you like directly without having to install it and move it. As I don’t get much time on RISC OS and I’m also trying to get things to build with the latest GCC compiler as well as do various other things there are quite a few packages in the autobuilder which haven’t been updated.
Sorry you are finding the instructions so vague. Suggestions on how to improve them are always welcome. Once installed you can usually find where it is installed by selecting the package, press menu, select Package ‘AlephOne’, then components. That should show you the !AlephOne application. Menu on the !AlephOne icon leads to a menu where you can select View to open the folder where the package is installed. This is Apps.Games on my machine. |

I’m not having an issue with instructions. I’ll get the exact error message I’m seeing. |

Okay I’ve tried that, but it just displays a Components in package ‘AlephOne’ window, which contains a picture of the game’s icon but doesn’t show me where it is. And what on Earth are components anyway?
Ahah, doing that finally produced a filer window showing me where the game is, but OMG what a counter-intuitive rigamarole to get there! |

Finally managed to get some time to try AlephOne on my Raspberry Pi last night and from a quick test it seems to be working OK. |
